Today Apple announced that the new iPhone will include Qi wireless charging capabilities using the open standard - confirming their love for the consumer by working within a global and a well established standard. For many wireless power users, mostly those who already have Qi wireless charging bases, there was concern that Apple would offer wireless charging, but only with made-for-iPhone approved bases. That move would have meant the Qi compliant charger they had already purchased or was installed in their car wouldn't work with their iPhone. However, today Apple put those concerns to rest by announcing they would use the OPEN standard from Qi.
Congratulations to Inductive Intelligence Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Dave Baarman, who is the primary inventor of the underlying Qi technology, for winning over the heart of the world's largest company.
