Competing For or Creating Time

In my previous job, I used to consistently say, "We aren't competing against other product companies, we're competing for people's time." I still believe that's true. Whether you're in retail, direct selling, or product development, you're competing for time. Retailers today need to compete for and earn people's time by creating experiences that bring them in the door, direct sellers need to create business opportunities worthy of the time invested, and product companies need to save consumers time with the products they sell.

The below link is a great article by Gary Vaynerchuk that I think speaks to this topic really well. The idea of competing for and creating time is also why I'm optimistic about the future of Inductive Intelligence.
